Toronto Maple Leafs center John Tavares grabbed his 12th career hat trick as the team delivered Winnipeg its first defeat of the season on Monday. Tavares opened and finished the scoring in a 6-4 road win while leading the team with seven shots. The veteran star had been held goalless since he opened the campaign with two markers in three games. He's now on five goals and four assists for the season through nine outings. Tavares has steadily picked up steam and is riding a five-game point streak following Monday's outing. He skated with Max Pacioretty and William Nylander against the Jets, and it's safe to assume the trio will stick together for a bit.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
