12 months agoToronto Maple Leafs defenseman John Klingberg is still not available to the team for back-to-back games against the Chicago Blackhawks and Pittsburgh Penguins this weekend, as per head coach Sheldon Keefe. The veteran blueliner hasn't appeared since a Nov. 11 contest against the Vancouver Canucks as he also missed the team's two Global Series Sweden contests in his native country last week. "We'll have something for you when something's changed. At this point, there's no change in his status," Keefe said on Wednesday while adding "he's just continuing to work through things." Certainly, it's a grim picture for a player who has struggled mightily in his first season in Toronto, registering just five assists and a minus-seven rating across 14 games to this point.--Brenton Kemp
