1 month agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (upper body) exited early during Saturday's contest with an injury. Before exiting, Gibson stopped 19 of the 20 shots he faced against the Boston Bruins. The backup netminder, Lukas Dostal, entered the game in the third period and stopped nine of the 10 shots he saw en route to clinching the victory. Fantasy managers should monitor Gibson's status, but given that the Ducks play on Sunday evening, he will likely be unavailable. As a result, Dostal is expected to get the starting nod against the Red Wings. Over his previous six starts, Gibson has only allowed more than two goals on one occasion. During this stretch, he has held a .944 save percentage with a 1.82 GAA. Dostal holds a .964 percent save percentage over his last two outings and would be a viable DFS play against Detroit.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

2 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (lower body) will be unavailable for a sixth consecutive game on Sunday against the St. Louis Blues. At the start of the week, reports indicated that Gibson had been cleared to return to the lineup, but the Ducks have continued to navigate the 2024-25 season without him. Gibson has a 9-10-2 record for the campaign, allowing 2.82 goals with a .910 save percentage. Lukas Dostal, who is sporting a 20-17-5 record, has received heavy usage during Gibson's absence and will make another start in Sunday's contest. --Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (lower body) will be back in the lineup on Tuesday against the Washington Capitals. He has missed a pair of games due to a lower-body injury. It looks like Anaheim plans to use Gibson as a backup on Tuesday, as Lukas Dostal was in the starter's crease during the morning skate. Gibson is sporting a 9-10-2 record for the season with a 2.82 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. If he doesn't return to action on Tuesday, there's a strong chance we will see Gibson on Wednesday as the Ducks wrap up a back-to-back against the Utah Hockey Club.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

3 weeks agoAnaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (upper body) exited Wednesday's contest early with an upper-body injury. Gibson logged just over 30 minutes of ice time before being replaced by Lukas Dostal. Before leaving, Gibson stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced. Over his previous four contests, the 31-year-old has struggled as he has held a high 3.02 GAA with a .890 save percentage. As a result, fantasy managers should expect Dostal to control the starter's crease for the foreseeable future if this injury is serious. In his brief relief appearance, he stopped 14 of the 15 shots he saw. Before Wednesday, Dostal held an impressive 7-1 record over his last contests with a 2.59 GAA and a .923 save percentage. Dostal will likely get the starting nod against the St. Louis Blues on Friday evening.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

2 months agoAccording to the team, Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson (upper body) exited early during Saturday's contest against the Nashville Predators. Gibson stopped nine of the 10 shots he faced in the opening frame, but Lukas Dostal took over for the final two frames. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the 31-year-old's status leading up to their next contest on Tuesday evening against the Seattle Kraken. In his previous start, Gibson stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced en route to defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins. However, prior to this strong showing, Gibson posted a .889% SV and a 3.69 GAA over his previous three contests. If Gibson were to miss time, Dostal would see the majority of the starts going forward in the Anaheim crease.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller
