5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher John Gant improved to 5-0 on Thursday, earning a win after pitching 1 1/3 perfect innings. He struck out a batter and needed just 12 pitches to get the four outs. Gant inherited two baserunners but he made quick work of everyone he faced, not allowing those runs to score. He lowered his ERA to 1.10 and opposing hitters are batting just .124 against him this season. With Jordan Hicks seemingly on a short leash, Gant could see save opportunities at some point this season, although Carlos Martinez is also a candidate for saves in the Cardinals bullpen.
