John Gant Bumped From Starting Rotation
3 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals right-hander John Gant is moving to the bullpen and will be available in relief in the near future. Gant was impressive early on for the Cardinals, but he was due for regression, and it has hit him hard recently. He has a decent 3.47 ERA on the season, but he's also sporting a 1.62 WHIP, 5.17 FIP and a mediocre 7.0 K/9 in 14 starts over 64 2/3 innings this season. In his last four starts this month, Gant has gone 0-4 with an 11.57 ERA, striking out 11 and walking 14 in 14 innings pitched. With a move to the bullpen, the 28-year-old can be dropped in most mixed leagues. Left-handed journeyman Wade LeBlanc is expected to get a shot in the Red Birds rotation in the near future, but he has even less upside than Gant in fantasy.
