Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson set up three goals in Friday's 5-3 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. Two of his assists, including a power-play helper, were on goals by Alex Ovechkin, who tied Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history on Friday night. This was Carlson's second three-point effort of the season. He had been without a multi-point game for nearly a month. The hat trick of assists helped Carlson reach the 50-point threshold for the seventh time in his career. Over 76 appearances, he has produced five goals and 45 assists, adding 127 blocks on the defensive end.

Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson celebrated his first multi-point outing of the season on Sunday, dishing out two assists in a 3-1 victory over the Sharks. The assists came inside the final five minutes of action when Washington found a way to turn around the game. The Capitals haven't looked great early in the season, but they have now strung together three consecutive wins, and Carlson can be pretty happy with his contributions.
