Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson extended his personal point streak to four games in his team's 3-2 home victory over the Washington Capitals on Tuesday night. The supremely talented blue-liner opened the scoring with a power-play tally in the first period and then added a secondary assist in the middle frame. Carlson has followed up a 2019-2020 season in which he was nominated for the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman with seven points (two goals, five assists), 22 shots and 11 hits in his first seven contests. He's a unanimous top-three rearguard in nearly all fantasy formats and should be considered a lineup staple each night he takes the ice. He'll get another opportunity to shine when the Caps take on the Islanders again on Thursday.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller

Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson set up three goals in Friday's 5-3 victory against the Chicago Blackhawks. Two of his assists, including a power-play helper, were on goals by Alex Ovechkin, who tied Wayne Gretzky for the most goals in NHL history on Friday night. This was Carlson's second three-point effort of the season. He had been without a multi-point game for nearly a month. The hat trick of assists helped Carlson reach the 50-point threshold for the seventh time in his career. Over 76 appearances, he has produced five goals and 45 assists, adding 127 blocks on the defensive end.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson tallied three helpers during Saturday's victory over the New Jersey Devils. One of Carlson's assists came on the power-play. In this game, the 34-year-old also tallied five shots on goal with one block. This extended Carlson's current point streak to three games. Through November, Carlson tallied 11 points (1 goal, ten helpers) in 15 games. Overall, he has tallied 19 points through 24 games this season with 41 blocks, 62 shots, and 22 hits. Given his stable production in all standard categories and consistently seeing top minutes, John Carlson remains a must-start option in all formats and a solid pick in DFS, given his role in the Washington lineup.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson registered two assists as the team collected a fifth consecutive win on Wednesday with a 4-3 scoreline in overtime against Buffalo. The Capitals, who have now gone 8-1-1 over the last few weeks, chased the game for most of the night, but Carlson helped Tom Wilson to tie the game at three with around a minute left in regulation and collected his second assist when Dylan Strome decided the game eight seconds from the end of overtime. Carlson himself couldn't score despite firing off a season-high seven shots on goal. The Swedish blue-liner has notched four points during the team's winning streak, reaching 11 points (one goal, 10 assists) for the season with 16 games played.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson celebrated his first multi-point outing of the season on Sunday, dishing out two assists in a 3-1 victory over the Sharks. The assists came inside the final five minutes of action when Washington found a way to turn around the game. The Capitals haven't looked great early in the season, but they have now strung together three consecutive wins, and Carlson can be pretty happy with his contributions. He's sitting on seven points (one goal, six assists) through eight games. Carlson has also tallied 18 blocks with 18 shots on goal and a plus-one rating.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
