Joey Wiemer Optioned To Triple-A
2 years agoThe Milwaukee Brewers recently optioned third-ranked prospect Joey Wiemer to Triple-A. The outfielder was the last cut of spring training, with the final spot going to first baseman Owen Miller. The Ohio native did great in spring training, slashing .262/.319/.429 with two home runs and three stolen bases. The 90th-ranked prospect in all of baseball, Wiemer's combination of speed and power is the focal point for fantasy managers, but his plus arm talent gives him staying power in the outfield. With little depth in right field in Milwaukee, the 24-year-old should see extensive playing time at the major-league level this season. With 30 steals and 21 homers last season, Wiemer is a worthwhile stash.
