Joey Wendle Reaches Base Eight Straight Times
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays second baseman Joey Wendle came close to tying a team record Wednesday versus the Rangers. He would reach his first four times in the game which extended his streak to eight straight plate appearance reaching safely. In his ninth appearance with a chance to tie the team record, he would ground out. Wendle is now hitting .302 and is on pace to become the first qualifying Rays hitter to bat over .300 in several years. In fact, he may have company since Mallex Smith is hitting .301 and Matt Duffy is hitting .299. In fact, the trio would combine for six hits, three runs scored and three RBI Wednesday. Wendle is not a league-winner and is not worth much in shallow or medium-depth leagues but there are deep formats where he matters.
