Joey Wendle Stays Hot
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays second baseman Joey Wendle continued a recent upward trend to his offense Sunday versus the Indians. He would hit a ground-rule double to open the scoring in the key seventh inning. Wendle then was drive in shortly afterward. He also made several great defensive plays that ought to help his case to continue to be in the lineup. He has been quite hot the last 10 games. Wendle is 15-for-42 with five walks over those 10 games. He also has six runs in his last six games, seven RBI over his last 10 games and four steals in his last seven games. Wendle is now 10th in the American League in batting average at .298. He is not a league-winner and is not worth much in shallow or medium-depth leagues but there are deep formats where he matters.
