Joey Wendle Arguably Hits .300 In 2018
6 years agoTampa Bay Rays infielder Joey Wendle finished out his case for the American League Rookie of the Year award Sunday versus Toronto. He would go 1-for-3 with a run scored and two drive in. He would finish the season with a .29979466 batting average. By the virtue of rounding up, his average would show up as .300 which would make him the first Rays batter who qualified for the batting race to hit .300 in several years. Other onlookers claim that he doesn't qualify as the first three digits are 299. Either way, he is a contender for the A.L. ROY award. Wendle was not a league-winner and was not worth much in shallow or medium-depth leagues but there are deep formats where he could be useful in 2019 if he repeats or exceeds his rookie season.
