Joey Votto Sitting Tuesday Versus Lefty
1 year agoCincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto is on the bench to start Tuesday's contest against Miami Marlins left-hander Braxton Garrett. The veteran slugger hasn't hit for much average against both lefties and righties this season but has brought a wealth of power to the table after beginning the season on the injured list. Votto slugged his 13th home run of the season in Monday night's series opener, doing so in just his 39th game after hitting 11 HR across 91 contests in 2022. For what it's worth, Votto's .323 isolated power ranks fifth among hitters with at least 150 plate appearances while he has managed an .833 OPS despite hitting just .203 on the season. Christian Encarnacion-Strand will take over at first base and hit sixth against Garrett Tuesday in Cincinnati.
