Joey Lucchesi Starting Friday's Game
2 years agoNew York Mets left-hander Joey Lucchesi will make his first appearance in the big leagues since 2021 when he starts Friday's contest against the San Francisco Giants. Over his career, the 29-year-old owns a 4.24 ERA, 4.12 FIP, 24.5% strikeout rate, and 1.27 WHIP. So far this season, Lucchesi has pitched to a 2.30 ERA with 16 punchouts across 15.2 innings at Triple-A. After Carlos Carrasco (elbow) went on the shelf a few days ago, the Mets needed another arm to join the rotation. It isn't clear how long Lucchesi will be a part of the staff, as Justin Verlander (shoulder) is likely coming back in early May. Fantasy managers looking for help in the starting pitcher department can take a chance on the former San Diego Padres draft pick but shouldn't expect a whole lot of production.
