3 months agoToronto Blue Jays rookie outfielders Joey Loperfido and Addison Barger (knee) are both out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale at Rogers Centre against the Philadelphia Phillies. Davis Schneider is in left field and batting eighth, and catcher Alejandro Kirk is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup against Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sanchez. Loperfido hasn't been afforded regular playing time since joining the team at the trade deadline and has hit just .198 (18-for-91) with two homers and six RBI in his 27 games with Toronto. Barger homered on Tuesday but also left the contest early with a left- knee injury, so he should be considered day-to-day. With the Blue Jays having Thursday off, the hope is that the 24-year-old Barger can return for the series opener on Friday in Atlanta against the Braves.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
