Joey Gallo Lands On 10-Day Injured List
6 months agoThe Washington Nationals placed outfielder/first baseman Joey Gallo (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a left-hamstring strain and recalled rookie infielder Trey Lipscomb from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move. Gallo departed Tuesday's win over the Detroit Tigers with the hamstring strain and will now miss at least the next 10 days. Given Gallo's reputation as a slow healer, fantasy managers will probably want to expect him to need more than the 10 days to recover. With the 30-year-old left-handed power hitter on the shelf, both Lipscomb and Joey Meneses will be options at first base for the Nationals. It's become harder to justify taking the huge batting average hit with Gallo for his power in fantasy leagues. He's currently slashing .164/.285/.321 with only five home runs and 11 RBI in 140 at-bats in 2024.
