Joey Gallo Homers, Walks Twice In Loss
4 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo slugged his first home run of the season on Saturday during an 11-4 loss to the Kansas City Royals. The left-handed hitter went deep in the first inning against southpaw Mike Minor. He later walked twice and struck out once. Through his first two games, Gallo now has an impressive 2.000 OPS with three hits in five at-bats and a BB-K of 5-1. He's coming off an uncharacteristically poor season that saw him post an 86 wRC+ with a .181 batting average in 57 games. The offense has not been much of an issue for Texas but the bullpen allowed eight earned runs in three innings of combined work on Saturday.
