Joel Embiid Notches 22 Points In Season Opener
3 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid started the campaign with a 22-point effort in a 117-97 road win over the Pelicans. He also had six rebounds with five assists, one steal and one block, shooting 8-for-17 from the field and 2-for-3 from outside. Embiid shared the team lead in scoring with Furkan Korkmaz, who netted 22 points in 20 minutes off the bench. The Sixers were in full control throughout the game and it turned into a blowout, which explains Embiid's mediocre numbers in the contest. It wasn't an easy matchup either, with the Pels having acquired Jonas Valanciunas during the offseason. The Process will take on the Nets next and we can expect him to try and lay a marker down against the No. 1 title favorites.
