Joel Dahmen has missed three of his four cuts this year with a T9 finish wedged in at the Farmers Insurance Open. He will now turn his focus to the Mexican Open, an event he has yet to compete in. At 7,456 yards, Vidanta Vallarta is a course that requires length off the tee and strong long-iron play. Dahmen ranks near the middle of the pack in driving distance, sitting 97th on tour with an average of 302.8 yards. He also ranks 24th on tour in proximity from 200-plus yards, a distance that accounted for 43.3% of all approach shots at this event last year. Dahmen is likely to have a strong first day at the tournament, averaging a score of 69 on Day 1, which is 25th-best on tour. The issues arise on the second day, where he averages a score of 70.75, ranking 110th on tour. This marks Dahmen's first missed cut in his last three tournaments. He also missed the cut at last year's Texas Children's Houston Open. Over the past 12 months, Dahmen has ranked in the 92nd percentile for proximity to the hole on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. This is significant because over 38% of approach shots at last year's Texas Children's Houston Open came from that distance. Dahmen's form has improved significantly since the start of the 2025 season. After missing the cut in three of his first four events, he has one top-10 finish and has not missed a cut since then. Over the past 12 months, Dahmen ranks in the 88th percentile for greens in regulation percentage on approach shots from 150-200 yards in the fairway. This is noteworthy because, at last year's Valspar Championship, 37% of approach shots came from this distance. 9 months agoJoel Dahmen enjoyed a brief resurgence in recent months, making eight consecutive cuts between the Corales Puntacana Championship in late April through the John Deere Classic in early July. But the 36-year-old has disappointed with back-to-back missed cuts in the ISCO Championship and Barracuda Championship with watered-down fields. It's hard to imagine Dahmen righting the ship this week, as his last two starts at this tournament resulted in a T67 in 2021 and a missed cut in last year's rendition. And while he's looked great off-the-tee and on approach over the last 24 rounds, it's tough to imagine him keeping up in a birdie-fest while ranking 129th in the field in Bentgrass putting. With soft pricing on DraftKings this week, fantasy managers should consider looking higher up the salary board for golfers with better recent form, higher upside, and stronger course history.--Ryan Hickey
