Joe Musgrove Takes The Loss On Sunday
1 year agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Joe Musgrove took the loss on Sunday when he allowed three runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk over six innings in a 3-1 loss to the Detroit Tigers. Musgrove wasn't at his best in this one, firing off 92 pitches (60 strikes) over his six innings while allowing 10 hard-hit balls. Both Spencer Torkelson and Andy Ibanez took him deep for solo shots and Kerry Carpenter notched an RBI single to saddle him with three earned runs. That would be enough to give him the loss as the Padres could only muster one run. Musgrove has been up and down this season but overall, he's been San Diego's most consistent pitcher. He'll carry a 9-3 record, 3.25 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, and 92:19 K/BB ratio over 91 1/3 innings (16 starts) into his next turn, a home start against the Texas Rangers.
