Joe Mantiply Secures Save In Tuesday's Win Over Miami
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks pitcher Joe Mantiply tossed a scoreless inning to earn the save during Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Miami Marlins. In the ninth inning, he entered the game to protect a one-run lead and threw a scoreless frame to notch his second save. The 31-year-old has been terrific out of the bullpen in 2022, owning a 0.80 WHIP and striking out four over 10 scoreless innings. Arizona's primary closer Mark Melancon (illness), is on the injured list, and Ian Kennedy got the save chance for Monday's 5-4 win over the Marlins. The Diamondbacks turned to Mantiply for Tuesday's save opportunity. Melancon is expected to return soon to retain his closer role, but Kennedy and Mantiply can be added in deep-league formats for fantasy managers searching for saves.
