Joe Barlow "Officially" Named Rangers Closer
3 years agoTexas Rangers manager Chris Woodward officially called right-hander Joe Barlow his "closer." Barlow wasn't available on Saturday after pitching Thursday and Friday. Matt Bush entered the ninth inning to protect a 2-0 lead and notched his first save in Saturday's 2-0 win over the Athletics. It was the Rangers' first save chance in 13 games. The 26-year-old most likely would have been given the opportunity instead of Bush if he were available out of the bullpen. Barlow is 1-0 with a 4.15 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 7:1 K: BB over 4 1/3 innings in 2022. Fantasy managers searching for saves can add Barlow in all league formats as he appears to be the team's closer for the foreseeable future.
