Joakim Soria Struggles, Takes Loss Friday Against Angels
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Joakim Soria was rocked for four runs on three hits in one inning of work on Friday afternoon, earning him the loss against the Angels. Soria struggled with command, throwing two wild pitches with one of them resulting in a batter reaching base on a strikeout. The outing was a stark contrast to Soria's first appearance, in which he tossed a scoreless inning. However, in that outing he had no strikeouts and allowed a walk for his only baserunner. Soria was brought in last month to compete for the closer role in Arizona, but so far Stefan Crichton is looking like the more likely candidate to be the Opening Day closer. Soria will need to show a significant turnaround through the rest of this month before managers in any format should consider rostering him.
