Joakim Soria Makes Diamondbacks Debut with Scoreless Inning of Work Sunday
4 years agoArizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Joakim Soria made his debut with the team on Sunday, allowing one walk with no strikeouts while pitching a scoreless fourth inning in the 5-4 victory over the Cubs. Soria allowed a five-pitch walk to start off the inning, but he kept the Cubs off the board with a flyout and a double play to end the fourth. Soria was signed to the team last month and is expected to compete with Stefan Crichton for the closer role in Arizona this year. There's still plenty of games to be played this spring, but if Soria gets the closing job he would be a solid mid-to-late round closer in drafts.
