Joakim Soria Earns Second Save On Wednesday
3 years agoArizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Joakim Soria earned his second save of the season on Wednesday, striking out two in a perfect inning of relief. On one hand, it's good to see Soria pitching better as of late, as he has now posted five consecutive scoreless appearances and sports a 3.18 ERA and 1.147 WHIP with 12 strikeouts in his last 11 1/3 innings of work. On the other hand, Soria is 2-for-3 in save opportunities this season, and the Diamondbacks are second-to-last in the majors with 23 team save opportunities this year. And with just two holds this season, Soria doesn't even have value in SV/HLD formats. He's the closer for Arizona right now, but there's really no reason to roster him.
