JJ Bleday Diagnosed With ACL Sprain
1 year agoAn MRI exam showed that Oakland Athletics outfielder JJ Bleday (knee) has an ACL sprain in his left knee. Manager Mark Kotsay said he doesn't want to rule out Bleday for the rest of the 2023 season, but a return this year is up in the air. The A's placed Bleday on the 10-day injured list before their game on Tuesday. The former fourth overall pick of the Miami Marlins back in 2019 has looked overmatched at the plate since making his MLB debut in 2022 with the Marlins. In 77 contests with the A's this year, he's hitting .203/.313/.373 with 10 home runs, 27 RBI, five stolen bases and 34 runs scored in 284 trips to the plate. Since the 25-year-old left-handed hitter isn't guaranteed to return in 2023, you'll probably want to look for a replacement off the waiver wire in deeper leagues.
