Jimmy Lambert Begins Rehab Assignment
4 months agoChicago White Sox right-hander Jimmy Lambert (shoulder) started a minor-league rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on Friday. Lambert has yet to pitch for the White Sox in 2024 after being sidelined with shoulder discomfort way back in spring training. The 29-year-old is officially dealing with a rotator-cuff strain in his shoulder but appears to be getting close to making his season debut for the last-place White Sox. Because of how long he's been out, though, don't be surprised if he's not activated from the injured list until August. It's hard to imagine Lambert overtaking Michael Kopech for the closer's role in Chicago once he's healthy, so fantasy managers should continue to ignore him for now. The former fifth-rounder in 2016 out of Fresno State had his first career save in 2023 while also posting a rough 5.26 ERA and 1.62 WHIP with 41 K's and 20 walks in 37 2/3 innings pitched.
