Jimmy Garoppolo A Potential QB2 If He Starts In Week 5
4 years agoSan Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo (ankle) has returned to practice on a limited basis this week and appears to be trending towards making his return to action in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins. Garoppolo suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 2 and has missed the past two weeks as Nick Mullens and C.J. Beathard have handled quarterback duties. Garoppolo has played six quarters of football this year and has performed well, completing 33 of 49 passes for 390 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions. The 49ers got two of their top pass-catchers back last week, tight end George Kittle and receiver Deebo Samuel, so Garoppolo will have solid options out there if he's a go in Week 5. Start him as a QB2 in two-quarterback leagues if he's active, but have a backup option in line in case he misses one more game.
