Jimmie Johnson Looks To Win Final Race At Martinsville
4 years agoHendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson will start from the 27th position in Sunday's Xfinity 500 at Martinsville Speedway. Johnson comes into Martinsville after some rough luck at Texas, where he blew an engine while having a solid top-10 run. The final season for the seven-time Cup champion has been filled with misfortune, but if there was a track where Johnson could get a signature win, it is Martinsville. In 37 career starts, Johnson has nine victories, 19 top-fives, and 25 top-10 finishes. In June, Johnson arguably had his strongest race of the year, leading 70 laps and winning the second stage before finishing 10th. Johnson's DFS salary is above average, and while it has been hard to trust the seven-time champ, this is one of his best tracks, and he has a massive position differential upside. If Johnson's fortune could turn around, expect him to have a nice top-10 run and be a great lineup selection.
