Jim Adduci Recalled, Starts In Right Field Against Astros
6 years agoThe Chicago Cubs recalled veteran outfielder Jim Adduci from Triple-A Iowa on Monday and promptly inserted him in the starting lineup against the Houston Astros. With Kris Bryant (neck) and Jason Heyward (hip) out of the lineup for the first of three games in Houston, Adduci earned the start in right field and batted fifth. The 34-year-old, who was making his season debut against the Astros, posted a slash line of .261/.306/.478 with seven home runs and five stolen bases in the minors this year. He does have four years of major league service but probably does not have any fantasy value at this juncture. In a corresponding move, the Cubs optioned reliever Tim Collins to Triple-A.
