Ji-Man Choi To Undergo Knee Surgery; Out Until May
4 years agoTampa Bay Rays first baseman Ji-Man Choi (knee) will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee and will be out until May, according to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. Topkin reports that Choi has been dealing with knee soreness since the beginning of Spring Training, and he had a reoccurence of soreness last weekend after resuming baseball activities. The timetable for Choi's return is not yet set, but manager Kevin Cash said that for now it's looking like at least three to five weeks. With Choi out, look for Yoshi Tsutsugo and Yandy Diaz to split time at first base. Diaz will likely be the better choice for managers to target right now, as he has looked good this spring with a .314 average, .981 OPS and a 4:7 K:BB ratio in 16 games.
