Jhoan Duran Throws Live Batting Practice
2 years agoMinnesota Twins right-hander Jhoan Duran (hamstring) was able to throw a live batting practice session on Sunday at spring training. Duran had to drop out of the 2023 World Baseball Classic after he suffered a minor hamstring injury last month, but he's back on the mound and looked good on Sunday. The 25-year-old Dominican made his major-league debut in 2022 and didn't look overmatched at all, recording a 1.86 ERA (2.52 FIP), 0.97 WHIP, his first eight career saves, 18 holds and 89 strikeouts in 67 2/3 relief innings for the Twins. At the very least, he'll be attractive in holds leagues, but he could also see more save chances alongside Jorge Lopez in his second MLB season. Barring a setback, Duran should be ready for Opening Day.
