7 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Jharel Cotton (elbow) has a strained UCL and a strained flexor muscle, according to Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Cotton will be getting a second opinion. This is terrible news, as Cotton was fighting to rebound from a subpar 2017 season. Thus far in spring training, Cotton had a 3.75 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 12 innings. On Monday, Cotton threw four innings with zero hits against the Giants until he was removed with elbow soreness. This might be an opportunity for Andrew Triggs and potentially A.J. Puk to compete for final spots in the starting rotation.--Ellis Canady - RotoBaller
