Jeurys Familia Picks Up Save
4 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Jeurys Familia picked up a save in the Mets' 8-7 win over the Phillies on Sunday. Familia was called on to get the final out when Edwin Diaz (back) was removed from the game after nearly blowing a four-run lead and suffering the injury. Familia retired the only batter he faced, Bryce Harper, on a strikeout to pick up his first save of the season. Diaz will be evaluated Monday by the Mets. If Diaz is forced to miss time due to the back injury, Familia could see some save opportunities along with Trevor May. As a result, Familia may be worth a speculative add in deeper leagues for managers in need of saves. Familia has a 1.29 ERA, a 1.57 WHIP, and an 8:4 K:BB in seven innings pitched so far in 2021.
