Jets Picking Up Jermaine Johnson's Fifth-Year Option
8 mins agoESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the New York Jets are picking up defensive end Jermaine Johnson's (Achilles) $13.4 million fifth-year option for the 2026 season. The Jets are picking up Johnson's fifth-year option despite the fact that he tore his right Achilles in Week 2 of last year. The 26-year-old pass-rusher had enough time to recover since it was an early-season injury, though, and he remains on track to participate in organized team activities this spring and training camp this summer. Johnson, who was taken 26th overall in the 2022 NFL draft out of Florida State, had 84 tackles (54 solo), 10 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 21 QB hits, an interception returned for a touchdown, seven pass breakups, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery in 31 games (17 starts) in his first two NFL seasons. Depending on how he bounces back from his Achilles injury, he could be in play in deep IDP fantasy formats in 2025.
