Jets Excited About Rookie Tight End Zack Kuntz
2 years agoNew York Jets head coach Robert Saleh and general manager Joe Douglas are calling seventh-round draft pick Zack Kuntz a "freak" who could contribute his rookie year. "He's got freakish ability and he's got a love for football, so now we just got to work with him," Saleh said. At 6-foot-8, he matches the height of the two tallest tight ends in the NFL, Zach Gentry and Donald Parham. His 4.55 time in the 40-meter-dash is comparable to Mike Gesicki, but he is five pounds heavier, at 255. "We were sitting there at the top of the seventh round and just going through some of the guys who just had that freak factor to him and he was right there at the top," said Douglas. Kuntz had caught 11 passes for 141 yards and two touchdowns in the first four games of his senior season at Old Dominion before injuring his knee and missing the rest of the season.
