Jesus Luzardo To Miss Several Weeks With Shoulder Injury
6 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo (shoulder) was a candidate to open the season in the starting rotation, but he will be shut down for the next four to six weeks with a rotator-cuff strain. If all goes well, he will resume throwing in May. Luzardo is the Athletics' top prospect and was cruising through the spring. He had allowed just one run in 9 2/3 innings of work while striking out 15. The 21-year-old had a fantastic 2018 across three different levels of minor-league ball, posting a 10-5 record to go along with a 2.88 ERA and 1.05 WHIP. Luzardo possesses a nasty arsenal of pitches and remains a valuable fantasy asset in keeper/dynasty formats. Considering how thin the Athletics' rotation currently is, Luzardo will still likely make a fantasy impact in 2019. He is a name to remember in redraft formats as a possible stash once he starts his rehab process.
