Jesus Luzardo Throws Three Perfect Innings On Tuesday
3 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo was outstanding in Tuesday's Grapefruit League start against the St. Louis Cardinals. He tossed three perfect innings, striking out two while throwing 47 pitches, 30 for strikes. He was easily hitting 99 mph on the radar gun. Luzardo was the return for the Marlins in the Starling Marte trade last season, and showed flashes of brilliance despite ending the season with a 6.44 ERA in 12 starts as a Marlin. He's essentially guaranteed a rotation spot to start the season, but with the Marlins having depth at the position, he may not get too many chances to prove he's worthy of the opportunity. Still, he drips with upside and could be a frontline fantasy starter if he gets it all together.
