Jesus Luzardo Just One Out Shy Of A Quality Start
3 years agoMiami Marlins rookie starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo pitched pretty well again on Friday, falling just one out away from a quality start. "The Jesus Lizard" pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three. He lowered his ERA to an even 7.00 and has looked significantly better in his two most recent starts after a poor beginning to his Marlins career. Luzardo probably should have been given the chance to finish the sixth inning, as he was at 90 pitches and had just one runner on base, but Don Mattingly has never managed a starting pitcher correctly, so it was no surprise to see Luzardo lifted mid-inning. The rookie lefty has shown enough promise to be worth rostering in dynasty and keeper formats, but it is still hard to trust him in a lineup this season.
