Jesus Luzardo Earns Win In Marlins Debut
3 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Jesus Luzardo earned his third win of the season after going five innings against the New York Mets on Monday in his debut start for the club. The 23-year-old managed to strike out five and get through five innings, despite giving up four hits, walking three, and recording only 47 strikes on 84 pitches. These final two months of the season present a perfect change-of-scenery opportunity for Luzardo to regain his confidence after being traded for Oakland Athletics outfielder Starling Marte on July 28. Luzardo represents a buy-low option in dynasty formats, and warrants stash consideration in redraft leagues to see if he can string together a few solid starts. On the season, the left-hander is 3-4 with a 6.70 ERA, 1.60 WHIP, and 45 strikeouts over 43 innings. Luzardo's next start will come this weekend in Colorado versus the Rockies.
