Jerick McKinnon Undergoes Another Surgery
5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Jerick McKinnon (knee) underwent a second surgery on his right knee on Tuesday of this week. McKinnon will miss his second straight full season after signing with the Niners before last season. It's unlikely he'll stick around, but if he does in 2020 the 49ers will seek a drastic reduction from his scheduled $6.5 million base salary. Tevin Coleman and Matt Breida will mainly share the backfield workload to begin the 2019 season, with Raheem Mostert mixing in occasionally. McKinnon can obviously be left to the waiver wire in all redraft leagues. In a great matchup with Tampa in Week 1, both Coleman and Breida are worthy RB3/flex options, with Breida being more attractive in PPR setups.
