1 year agoUpdating a previous report, Washington Nationals third baseman Jeimer Candelario (thumb) was a late scratch for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. He was originally in the lineup, after missing both ends of Saturday's doubleheader, but was scratched after taking some swings and handling groundballs during pregame warmups. Apparently, the thumb is still bothering him so Ildemaro Vargas will start at third base in his place. The Nationals should provide an update on Candelario following Sunday's game.--Jon Mathisen - RotoBaller
