Jeffery Wilson Could Be Odd Man Out Soon
5 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Jeffery Wilson could be the odd man out of the backfield when Tevin Coleman (ankle) returns from his high ankle sprain. San Francisco is going with a three-man committee since Coleman went down in Week 1, with Matt Breida, Raheem Mostert and Wilson all chipping in. Wilson has carried the ball 18 times for just 52 yards (2.9 yards per carry) the last two games, but he's helped savvy fantasy owners by finding the end zone four times as the red-zone/goal-line back. With Coleman expected to return to practice next week, he could take over Wilson's role on game days, beginning in Week 5 after the team's bye. The Niners backfield is one to avoid if at all possible, but Coleman could become a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex if he's used in a way similar to how Wilson has been used these last two weeks.
