Jeff Wilson Jr. Has Worst Game Of Season
2 years agoSan Francisco 49ers running back Jeff Wilson Jr. gained 25 yards on seven carries in the Niners' 14-28 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He was targeted once but didn't haul in the catch. He also lost a fumble, which Atlanta recovered for a touchdown. This was Wilson's first game to be held under 70 yards since taking over as the starter following Elijah Mitchell's injury. It looked like the Falcons defense was focusing on stopping the run, which they succeeded at. Every 49ers ball-carrier struggled. Mitchell is expected back in mid-November, but if Wilson could keep doing well, as he was from Week 2 through 5, there was thought he might keep the lead role. Disappointing showings like this open the possibility for Wilson to return to the bench. He will try to get back to form in Week 7 against the Kansas City Chiefs.
