Jeff Wilson Jr. Has Some Fantasy Appeal In Week 18
2 years agoMiami Dolphins running back Jeff Wilson Jr. is gearing up for a big Week 18 matchup against the New York Jets. After a strong start, Miami has stumbled and now needs a win (plus help from other AFC teams) to secure a playoff berth. However, a glaring obstacle stands in their way: Tua Tagovailoa (concussion) and Teddy Bridgewater (finger) are both sidelined this week. As a result, rookie Skylar Thompson will draw the start at quarterback. This may be unfavorable for the Dolphins, but it likely elevates Wilson's fantasy stock heading into the final week of the regular season. With Miami playing Bridgewater and Thompson last week, Wilson registered 15 carries (opposed to Mostert's nine). He finished with just 3.0 YPC but also saw a large role in the passing game. In fact, Dolphins quarterbacks targeted Mostert and Wilson a combined 15 times last week, and we can expect similar volume this coming Sunday if the team remains conservative and doesn't task Thompson with chucking the ball downfield too often. While Wilson has less allure than Mostert in fantasy football, the former is still a solid low-end RB3 option for this week.
