6 years agoBuffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner potted his fifth goal of the young season on Sunday in his team's 4-2 defeat of the Anaheim Ducks. The tally capped off a magnificent weekend for the Buffalo newcomer as he registered a hat trick on Saturday as well. Despite going scoreless through his first four games as a Sabre, Skinner now has five goals, two assists and 26 shots on goal in nine games on the campaign. The 26-year-old was recently moved onto the team's top line with Jack Eichel and could benefit greatly. Skinner is coming off a down year (49 points in 82 games) but could have tremendous value in 2018-2019 given his penchant for finding the back of the net. He'll have a few days off before the Sabres host the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday.--Chase Davis - RotoBaller

5 months agoEdmonton Oilers left wing Jeff Skinner scored his squad's only goal as the Calgary Flames won this season's first Battle of Alberta 4-1 on Sunday. The Oilers entered the game as massive favorites and got off to a dream start when Skinner bagged his first goal for the team with only 1:16 on the clock, but the Flames crushed their neighbors with a three-goal third period. It was another disappointing result for the Oilers but a big game for Skinner from a fantasy perspective. He led all skaters with six shots on goal and delivered two hits. The veteran winger boasts two points (one goal, one assist) through his first three games as an Oiler. There should be much more to come from him after Skinner was promoted to the Connor McDavid line on Sunday.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

12 months agoBuffalo Sabres left wing Jeff Skinner had one of his biggest performances of the season on Monday versus Seattle, netting his seventh career hat trick in a 6-2 win. He scored an even-strength goal in each period, completing the three-goal game with two minutes left to play. With the outing, Skinner matched the goals tally of his previous 12 appearances. He's massively struggled during the second half of the season and sits on only 45 points (24 goals, 21 assists) through 61 games. However, Monday's hat trick -- his third with the Sabres -- should be a morale-booster for Skinner, and a few more productive outings should definitely put him back in the fold for a top-six position.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 year agoBuffalo Sabres left wing Jeff Skinner (upper body) has been activated from Injured Reserve and will get back to work on Tuesday versus Anaheim. Skinner has missed the past five games while battling an upper-body problem. He's set to rejoin the first line and should also skate on the first power-play unit. The 31-year-old is one of Buffalo's most dangerous offensive weapons, totaling 17 goals and 16 assists in 38 appearances this season.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller

1 year agoBuffalo Sabres forward Jeff Skinner is out week to week with an upper-body injury. Skinner suffered the injury during Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Seattle Kraken. He skated 15:42 in the contest and logged a goal and an assist on three shots before his injury. It's been a nice season for the veteran who has tallied 17 goals and 33 points on the season, second-most on the Sabres behind center Casey Mittelstadt. It's the second time this season that Skinner has missed time with an upper-body ailment as he missed three games in mid-December following a hard hit by Avalanche superstar Nathan MacKinnon. Fantasy owners should simply set Skinner on the IR instead of cutting ties altogether.--Brenton Kemp
