Jeff Petry Sustains An Upper-Body Injury In Season Opener
1 month agoDetroit Red Wings defenseman Jeff Petry was forced to exit Thursday's season opener against Pittsburgh early due to an upper-body injury. He was ruled out for the rest of the game early in the third period. Petry finished scoreless and had one shot with one hit and a minus-one rating across 9:34 of action. The veteran skated on the second defensive pairing. Albert Johansson looks set to hop into the lineup to replace him on Saturday versus Nashville if Petry is sidelined. The 23-year-old has yet to make his NHL debut but has shown good ability in the minors, collecting 21 points (six goals, 15 assists) in 66 appearances last season.
