Jeff Hoffman Picks Up Win Sunday
Jeff Hoffman turned in an excellent start for his team in a 12-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday. Hoffman tossed five innings of one-run ball while striking out six and allowing just three hits. The veteran hurler made a good impression in his first appearance with the Reds after spending his entire career in Colorado. Despite the strong start, Hoffman's stay in the starting rotation will not be extensive as both Sonny Gray and Michael Lorenzen should be back from injury by the end of April. At that point, Hoffman will likely be shifted to the bullpen.

Jeff Hoffman Secures Fourth Save Of The Season
Jeff Hoffman couldn't keep the team's shutout intact against the Braves, but he still managed to lock down the save on Wednesday afternoon. Hoffman entered with a 3-0 lead in the ninth inning but gave up a solo home run to Drake Baldwin. He struck out Eli White to end the game despite the long ball, which wasn't really all that long and would only have been a home run in four MLB stadiums, per Statcast. It was the first home run allowed by Hoffman this season, and he has a 1.74 ERA with 14 strikeouts across 10 1/3 innings. Hoffman has been very effective at the back end of Toronto's bullpen this season, helping his team to an 11-8 start to the season as they host Seattle for a weekend set starting Friday.

Jeff Hoffman Earns Victory On Sunday
Jeff Hoffman entered the game in a 6-6 tie in the ninth inning. He worked a scoreless ninth inning and earned himself another trip out to the mound in the bottom of the 10th. Hoffman had little issues in this one as he stranded the ghost runner and earned himself the victory. The Baltimore Orioles only managed one hit off Hoffman as he struck out four batters over his two innings of work. Hoffman is looking legit early in the season and clearly isn't afraid of pitching multiple innings. The right-hander is a must-have fantasy option going forward.

Jeff Hoffman Closes Sweep With A Save
Jeff Hoffman gave up a run to the Nationals on Wednesday afternoon, but he still closed Toronto's 4-2 victory with his third save of the season. The 32-year-old righty entered the game in the ninth with a 4-1 lead and got the first two outs in quick succession before running into a little bit of trouble. He gave up a single, a double, and another single before his catcher Tyler Heineman threw out pinch-runner Jacob Young trying to steal second base to end the game. It was the first run allowed by Hoffman in his four games this season, and he is a perfect 3-for-3 in save opportunities. He will remain the team's primary closer as they head on a 10-game road trip to New York, Boston, and Baltimore starting on Friday.

Jeff Hoffman Failed Two Physicals Before Signing With Toronto
Jeff Hoffman (shoulder) failed two physicals due to concerns with his right shoulder with the Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles this offseason before eventually signing with the Toronto Blue Jays, according to a source. Both the Braves and Orioles had deals in place with Hoffman before he failed physicals with their medical staffs, with the O's having a three-year, $40 million deal set with Hoffman. The 32-year-old has been healthy since 2021, but he has gone on the injured list twice in his career with shoulder-related issues. Despite the physical concerns, the Blue Jays signed him to a three-year, $33 million deal, which means he's expected to serve as their closer in 2025, with Yimi Garcia and Chad Green serving as setup men. Given the concerns about his shoulder and the fact Hoffman only has 12 career saves in nine seasons, he'll be a shaky closing option for fantasy managers.
