Jed Lowrie Starts Rehab Assignment
6 years agoNew York Mets third baseman Jed Lowrie (knee), who sprained his left knee capsule early in spring training, played in his first rehab game with High-A St. Lucie on Sunday and went 0-for-4 in nine innings. It's unknown how long he'll be on a rehab assignment, but the Mets could be cautious with him considering how long he's been out. The veteran infielder will have to find playing time between Jeff McNeil, Todd Frazier and J.D. Davis when he makes his season debut with New York. We'd expect Lowrie to split playing time with Frazier at the hot corner, with McNeil mostly playing the outfield. Lowrie was an All-Star in his final season with the A's, but he's already off to a bad start in 2019 and could find playing time harder to come by.
