Jed Lowrie Heads Back To Oakland
3 years agoFree-agent second baseman Jed Lowrie re-signed with the Oakland Athletics on an undisclosed one-year deal on Friday. Lowrie ranked in the top 25% in hard-hit rate last year and will return to a team that he's already spent six years with at the major league level. The 37-year-old veteran switch-hitter was an All-Star with the A's in 2018 when he hit .267/.353/.448 with a career-high 23 home runs, 99 RBI and 78 runs scored in 680 plate appearances over 157 games. He played in only nine games with the New York Mets in 2019 due to injury and missed all of the shortened 2020 campaign. Lowrie bounced back to hit .245/.318/.398 with 14 homers and 69 RBI in 139 games for the A's in 2021.
