4 years agoMiami Marlins infielder Jazz Chisholm (ankle) remains listed as day-to-day, according to skipper Don Mattingly. The 23-year-old is currently dealing with a "mild" ankle sprain, an ailment that caused him to leave Tuesday's contest against Philadelphia. The speedster wasn't in the lineup on Wednesday or Thursday, so it will be interesting to see if he makes his way back sometime during the weekend series in Boston.--Dennis Clausen - RotoBaller

2 months agoAccording to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the New York Yankees and infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. have agreed to a one-year contract worth $5.85 million to avoid arbitration. The 26-year-old began the 2024 season with the Miami Marlins but was eventually traded to the New York Yankees during the stretch run. Across 147 games last summer, Chisholm held a .256/.324/.436 line with 24 home runs and 40 stolen bases. However, in 46 games with the Yankees, Chisholm performed very well as he held a .273/.325/.500 line with 11 home runs. The 26-year-old was deployed primarily at the hot corner during his short tenure with the Yankees last season but could move to the keystone as the Yankees are actively trying to add another infielder to their roster. Chisholm carries an elite combination of power and speed and should be viewed as a high-end third baseman in standard category leagues.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

4 months agoNew York Yankees general manager Brian Cashman mentioned prospect Caleb Durbin and the possibility that the team will add a third baseman and move infielder/outfielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. back to second base next season. Current second baseman Gleyber Torres is a free agent this winter, and although the Yankees aren't opposed to bringing him back, he could very well leave the Bronx, opening up a glaring hole at the keystone. After being acquired from the Miami Marlins at the trade deadline at the end of July, Chisholm hit .273 (48-for-176) with 11 home runs, 23 RBI and 18 stolen bases for the Bombers while playing a solid third base defensively. The 26-year-old power/speed threat already has eligibility at outfield and third base, so adding second base eligibility in 2025 would be even nicer for fantasy managers.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

5 months agoNew York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. went 1-for-4 with a solo home run and a walk in their Game 5 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Chisholm hit his second home run of October in the opening frame directly after Aaron Judge hit a two-run shot which gave the Yankees an early three-run lead. However, the Bronx Bombers were unable to hold their lead as the Dodgers eventually tied the game in the fifth and took the lead in the eighth. Chisholm's other postseason long ball came in Game 2 of the ALDS against the Kansas City Royals. The former Miami Marlin joined the Yankees at the trade deadline and finished his postseason run with a disappointing .182/.250/.309 slash line.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

5 months agoNew York Yankees third baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. made his presence known in Game 1 of the World Series on Friday, swiping three bags and scoring an important run late in the game. Jazz stole third base in the top of the 10th and scored on a fielder's choice right after, giving the Yanks a 3-2 lead. Unfortunately for them, Freddie Freeman had other ideas about how the game would end. As for Chisholm, he has been a bit of a letdown this postseason, hitting .179 with a .520 OPS. A good World Series would make his shaky playoffs a moot point, though, and he is off to a good start in Game 1.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller
