Jazz Chisholm Jr. Homers Out Of Leadoff Spot
3 years agoMiami Marlins second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr. got his first start out of the leadoff spot on Thursday, and he didn't disappoint his manager by homering to help his club defeat the Cardinals 5-0. His third long ball of the season came off of Aaron Brooks in the seventh inning for a two-run shot as he finished the night going 1-for-4. Chisholm is off to a nice start to the season slashing .290/.333/.774 with six runs, 12 RBI, and a stolen base out of the bottom-third of the order. Jorge Soler has received the nearly all the at-bats as the team's leadoff hitter so far in 2022, but since he's slashing just .143/.250/.238 through 48 plate appearances, the job could transfer hands. Chisholm was in the coveted role for 64 games a year ago, so it's something to monitor moving forward as a promotion to the top of the lineup would undoubtedly boost his fantasy production.
